March Meeting

As in past years, our March meeting will be held at the Capital District Garden and Flower Show on Saturday, March 23rd at Hudson Valley Community College.

We share a booth at the flower show with the Iris and Hosta Societies to get the word out about our clubs and sales. We have been fortunate in prior years to have Cindi Jones design and set up our booth. The designs have been beautiful and eye-catching and have caused many people to stop and inquire about our clubs. We are asking people to help this year with ideas for the design and help setting up and taking down the booth. More plans will be made at the Doldrums party.

Notes from the January Meeting

Our Holiday Party in December will be combined with the Hosta Society. Dave and Cindy Jennings have done a wonderful job coordinating the party and will again co-host the event. The date is set for December 14th – we had so much fun last year, everyone’s

We will discuss the possibility of rewarding members who donate daylilies to the Members’ Sale with vouchers towards daylilies they purchase at the sale.

We are also looking into getting t-shirts or polo shirts with the club logo. In order to get an idea of interest and sizes to order, we need input from the club members.

If you are interested in purchasing a shirt, please let Stephanie Kronau know by e-mail

Something New

Something New

An idea was suggested at the Picnic that we have a Daylily Swap at the September meeting. Everyone liked the idea so we thought we’d try it out.

Some of the details still need to be worked out, but the idea is that you bring in a couple of fans of one of your special daylilies and then you get to swap your fans with someone else who has a daylily you may be interested in adding to your garden.

By September, most of our daylilies are done blooming and it will be easy to remove the fans you want to bring to the swap.

You will need to bring in a picture of the daylily you are bringing and other information such as height, flower size, etc. so people will be able to judge what it looks like and how it grows.

More details will come in the September issue of the newsletter – watch this space!

The HADS Display Garden needs to be weeded and mulched. A work party will be organized next month.

The Regional meeting is being scaled back due to the poor response. It will still be held, but car pools will be used instead of buses and some meals will not be included.
